Administrator

I believe that academic administration is a profoundly creative act, and to do it I draw on the skills in collaboration, facilitation, storytelling, and project management that I honed in my creative career.

I am currently Professor and Dean of Graduate Studies at the Columbus College of Art & Design. My portfolio includes the supervision of current and development of new graduate degree programs, professional studies programming, youth and enrichment education, campus galleries, and the visiting artist and scholars program. This diverse set of responsibilities holds in common the fact that they are where the institution is looking for innovative approaches to lifelong learning that eschew strict adherence to traditional, discipline-bound curricular models.

In this work I am guided by an unwavering belief that the essential skills in adaptability, creativity, risk tolerance, problem solving, and resilience that are embedded in thinking like an artist or designer are not only what industry craves (as the National Association of Colleges and Employers have made clear), but they are necessary to a life well lived.
